Confederate Cavalry Information
for
Reams Station

This page introduces the authencity regulations for Confederate Cavalry at Reams Station and links some information about the historical background.

We have tried to be as thorough as possible regarding the authencity regulations so that those who desire to participate will have a clear understanding of the standards for this event. These standards are very specific in each category.

Acceptable items are numbered in order of preference; the first item listed is preferred over subsequent items, but all items listed are acceptable, in descending order of preference. If you have a choice between listed items, please utilize the first item listed. If an item is not listed it is not approved. We are publicizing these Regulations early so as to allow participants time to procure approved items they may need in advance of the event date.

The unit impression will be Company C, Second North Carolina Cavalry, Barringer's Brigade, W.H.F. Lee's Division, Wade Hampton's Cavalry Corps. The history of this regiment is quite compelling, particularly during the summer of 1864 and during the Battle of Reams Station (see historical background section).  Uniform and equipment requirements to portray this unit are not radically different than other ANV cavalry regiments during this timeframe, although there are some preferred items included in the authencity regulations which have North Carolina provenance.

The number of Confederate Cavalry participants is limited to 12, so this is an event limited to the very best. This is an invitation-only event, with each prospective participant submitting an application describing in detail his impression and experience. Federal Cavalry is limited to the same number and will be equally as strict regarding impression and ability.

We see The Battle of Reams Station as an excellent event to recreate the experience of Confederate Cavalry. The history here is as good as it gets for re-enactors of the mounted arm and we plan for this to be a premier cavalry event for both sides. With this in mind, the event expectations for cavalry are set high, so that each of us can meet the personal expectations of our friends and comrades.
